ABOUT US

History of Charlotte Art League

Charlotte Art League envisions a community that celebrated boundless creative expression and opportunity through arts, and the creative process.

Charlotte Art League exists to enrich the community through teaching, empowering, and advocating for the creative arts.

We’ve made ourselves at home since 1965, as Charlotte’s oldest nonprofit art gallery and organization. Since then, we’ve been paving a new landscape for the art scene—not your average ‘Poppies in the Park’ painting, but …

At CAL, we provide a range of spaces tailored to meet your artistic needs. From 4’x8’ wall spaces, perfect for showcasing your work, to spacious 8’x8’, 8’x11’, and 8’x16’ studios – we have the ideal spaces for every artist. As a nonprofit organization, we take pride in offering our members competitive rates, ensuring that the joy of creating is accessible to all.

New Workshops!

Explore the different ways that color can be used to create mood, atmosphere, and emphasis in a painting. Over the three sessions, we will study how Van Gogh used shades and tones to create his signature style, how Wayne Thiebaud’s used bright, saturated colors to create nostalgia in his paintings of everyday objects, and how Georgia O’Keeffe’s used color to create natural environments. Each class is 3 hours.

There are no upcoming events at this time.

Years

thank you

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the remarkable donors whose unwavering support breathes life into the Charlotte Art League. Without your generous contributions and invaluable in-kind donations, our mission to foster creativity, inspire artists, and cultivate a vibrant artistic community would remain unfulfilled. Each brushstroke, each canvas, and each moment of artistic expression is made possible because of your dedication and belief in our cause.

Charlotte Art League is supported, in part, by the Infusion Fund and its generous donors. www.InfusionFund.org
